I work alongside you

I am a psychotherapist, licensed clinical social worker trained at the University of Chicago, and yoga trained in an eco-based multidimensional, mindfulness practice. I provide psychotherapy, mentorship, and support with learning trauma-informed meditation and yoga. I have over 12 years experience of providing individual therapy.

My therapeutic practice is a humanistic, psychodynamic, strength-based, trauma-informed approach. Depending on what feels right for you, we may use various tools drawn from mindfulness, mind-body somatic work, a creative-lens, parts work (IFS) or other modalities.

Online therapy only.

Although I am based out of Chicago Illinois - I travel frequently and spend part of the year in Costa Rica. Id be happy to discuss if online therapy is right for you - feel free to reach out and set up a consultation call.

Graduate School: I received my masters degree from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration in 2011 - where I had extensive therapy-based internships at a rural mental health center, primarily government funded and at Northwestern University Women’s Center where I received supervision and support with Sue Bowker a humanistic, feminist-oriented, IFS therapist in Evanston. My training of psychotherapeutic modalities included psychodynamic theories, 3rd wave behaviorism (DBT), mindfulness, abusive systems and trauma interventions, as well as how to working with diverse identities including LGBTQ+ and intersectionality, understanding the impact of power & privilege, and the healing power of relationship and connection in the therapeutic process. Social work training not only includes the rigorous study of the inner psychological world, but also understanding the external, environmental impact on shaping our internal world. This I feel is essential in the importance of social conditions and social justice in our world today.

Career: Ive been practicing as a therapist for over 10 years. Beginning at a rural mental health agency, expanding to large private practice & currently in independent practice (now online). During my career, I have offered various workshops on trauma and yoga, ran a LGBTQ+ group for youth for a few years with Bonn Wade. I have also facilitated a moon meditation circle for 2+ years. I believe in the healing power of circles and social supports.

Yoga Practice & Training: My personal practice was renewed during my masters training where I attended a weekly, restorative yoga class with Meredith Haggerty who is an amazing lovely artist and mind-body healer. During this time, I practiced mindfulness meditation and a deep restorative yoga to manage the stress of life and academia. Later I pursued training so I could integrate more in mind-body, yoga work with psychotherapy. First with Yoga-Informed Psychotherapy from Live Oak/Bloom with Livia Budrys and then 200 hour yoga teacher training in Pavones Yoga Center in Mindfulness in Costa Rica where I returned to assist teach the following year. Indiras training was an eco-based, mindful practice that included relational experiences and awareness. Some of the amazing places I have had the opportunity to practice teaching yoga (besides in individual therapy): Pavones Yoga Center Costa Rica, as a volunteer assistant; Rockefeller Chapel University of Chicago (once as a substitute teacher for Meredith Haggerty); Cooperation Operation Urban Garden; Pullman Hotel Florence Chicago Landmark; Beverly Therapists; and Tiskita Jungle Lodge Costa Rica.

The most essential experience and learning comes from the beautiful humans who come to meet with me. I am deeply humbled, honored and grateful for all those who share their lives and experiences - the courage to show up and be vulnerable and real. For this, I am forever grateful.

If you are one of these amazing humans who have crossed my path, Thank you.
